Harvest Home Garland Kit by Stampin' Up!®

Fall brings change and the trees show it best. The vibrant oranges, yellows, reds and many variations pop for just a little while before the leaves dull and fall to the ground. I love seeing the colors and feeling that crisp chill in the air. I do some fall decorations in my home. The Harvest Home Garland kit drew my eye as soon as it was released. The color scheme is Cajun Craze, copper, gray, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Very Vanilla, white. The soft fall colors are different than I've seen. The Lost Lagoon color almost seems blue and it is lovely. The colors are a bit muted and it gives the leaves a nice feel.

Kit components

Kit Details:

  • Kit makes a garland 5' 5" long
  • There are 30 sheets of leaf die cuts (that's 200 leaves!)
  • 12 acorn accents
I did a Facebook live video showing the components of the kit and I began my garland. You'll need a hot glue gun or some very strong adhesive to adhere the leaves and acorns to the thick garland base. The garland is bendable covered wire.  You can customize it any way you like.

First you need to pop out all the leaves. I was able to stack several together and pop them out faster. Then it's very helpful to sort them by type of leaf. At first I mixed in the metallic with the cardstock leaves. Once I started my garland, I found it easier to keep the metallic leaves separated in their own pile.

Tips from me and participants:
  • sort all leaves before starting
  • clear an area to work as this piece is very long
  • put something down to protect your area from the hot glue
  • Use a silicone craft sheet to rest your hot glue gun on. The adhesive cools and peels right off.
  • sponge the edges with ink. I did this after my live and I loved the results! See pic below.
  • You can adjust the shape or cut and make picks to put in flower arrangements.
  • Make a wreath. I tried this. I recommend cutting the garland down or doubling it up as mine was too heavy after I glued all the leaves on.

Here's my start that I did live.
I went back after and added ink to the leaf edges.

There are a few sheets of textured cardstock (vanilla and gray). They are beautiful. If you have leaf dies, you could emboss them with different textures and recreate this look.

I took several days to complete this project. You could do it in one sitting however, it's ok to take a break. I have a long craft table but I made this where I film which is a much smaller space. If you're going to do this project over several days, I recommend using a larger table so you can keep things sorted and come back to it as you have time. It took me a few hours to complete the entire garland.

The Harvest Home Garland Kit is well worth the money. I was surprised how many leaves I had left over. I'm guessing I didn't make mine as full as the design team did. That's ok! I'll use the leftovers for cards.

This garland is over 5 feet tall- that's taller than I am! Check out the finished garland and the close-up photos.
