Fun all occasion cards with Brights designer series paper

Do you hoard your beautiful designer series paper? I must admit, I’m totally guilty of this. I’m trying hard to use it instead of leaving it uncut on my shelf.  One of my favorite designer series papers currently available is the color family packs. You get 48 sheets in a variety of colors based on the Stampin’ Up!® color families.

For my cards today, I used the Brights designer series paper pack. I picked four colors- Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point. I love the pop of bright color against Basic Gray. I love using a couple of card layouts and making a set of cards. For this set, I used Basic Gray cardstock for my bases as well as my layer behind my Whisper White stitched square.  It was time to give some love to my stamps sitting on my shelf. I pulled out Waterfront. It has a great watercolor look that goes with any occasion. Just pair it with any of your favorite greetings.

Which color combo is your favorite? Get out that designer series paper and try one of these layouts. Don’t have a Cut & Emboss machine? No worries. You can simply cut squares the size you need with your paper trimmer. If it’s on your list, I have a great way for you to get it and a future discount of at least 20% on all your orders. Ask me about the starter kit!

You can share your creation with this layout on my Facebook post. I'd love to see what products you use and how you change it up.

Happy Birthday notecards in Blushing Bride *tutorial*

Hello Stampers! Thank you for visiting my blog.

I'm on a roll making birthday notecards. I love making sets so I can gift them especially during the holidays. They are great gifts for anyone on your list who loves to send cards. How many of you have tons of designer series paper (aka dsp) sitting on your shelf or in your cabinet? This layout is a great way to use that up and make a cute set of cards. I used the Blushing Bride patterned dsp from the Subtles dsp pack. This pack is versatile because you get a variety of colors in four fun patterns. Pinks and grays go so well together. For the notecards, I use the prepared notecards/envelopes sets that come 20 in a package. They come in Whisper White (retiring soon and will be replaced with Basic White) and Very Vanilla. The notecards are pre-scored and ready to go.  Below you'll find a tutorial for these two beautiful notecards.

Measurements and instructions for this birthday card:
1. Cut Basic Gray cardstock 4 3/4" x 3 1/4".
2. Cut Blushing Bride wood grain dsp 4" x 3".
3. Die cut a scalloped square from Basic Gray cardstock (Layering Squares, #4). *I number my dies as #1 is the largest.
4. Die cut a stitched square from Whisper White cardstock (Stitched Shapes, #2).
5. Stamp the white stitched square with the mountains and trees from Waterfront stamp set in Basic Gray. Stamp the zig zag stamp in Blushing Bride. Stamp again after stamping once to get the variation in color. This is called generation stamping- first generation is stamped after inking, second is stamped again after stamping once, etc.
6. Adhere the stamped white square to the scalloped square.
7. Adhere the Basic Gray cardstock to the notecard front. Adhere the Blushing Bride dsp to the Basic Gray cardstock.
8. Stamp a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock (approximately 1/2" x 2") with your greeting in Basic Gray classic ink. I stamped a longer piece and trimmed it with my snips. Adjust this piece to fit your greeting. I used a new stamp coming out January 5, 2021- Art Gallery.
9. Adhere scalloped layer to the notecard.
10. Adhere the greeting with Stampin' dimensionals below the scalloped square.
11. Embellish with some clear Elegant Faceted Gems.
12. Stamp the inside of the notecard with more trees or as desired.
13. Stamp your envelope to match or use your left over dsp and glue to the flap and trim.

Measurements and instructions for this birthday card:

1. Cut Basic Gray cardstock 4 3/4" x 3 1/4".
2. Cut Blushing Bride polka dot dsp 4 1/2" x 3".
3. Die cut a square from Basic Gray cardstock (Layering Squares, #3).
6. Adhere the stamped white square to the Basic Gray square.
7. Adhere the Blushing Bride dsp to the Basic Gray cardstock.
8.Wrap a piece of Whisper White faux linen ribbon (Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo pack) around the Basic Gray layer and tie a knot on the left side. Adhere to front of notecard with strong adhesive.
9. Stamp a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock with your greeting in Basic Gray classic ink. Die cut with the smallest narrow stitched rectangle (Stitched Rectangles). I used a new stamp coming out January 5, 2021- Art Gallery.
10. Adhere square layer to the notecard with Stampin' dimensionals.
11. Adhere the greeting below the square.
12. Stamp the inside of the notecard with more trees or as desired.
13. Stamp your envelope to match or use your left over dsp and glue to the flap and trim.

Notecards with Birds & Branches bundle

One of my favorite things to sit and make are a set of notecards. I use these as giveaways and gifts as well as send them out myself. They can be quick and easy or layered up and elaborate. For this set, I wanted to focus on a fun die cutting technique.  For the technique, I laid a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut about 1" thick on top of the designer series paper I wanted to die cut. Then I choose a shape that I wanted to use. The Whisper White placement is toward the bottom. Align it to your liking and run it through your Cut & Emboss machine. What you get is a layered die cut that fits perfectly together. Remove from the die and glue the two pieces together.

This birthday notecard has several layers. The first layer is a piece of Night of Navy cardstock (4 3/4" x 3 1/4") embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder. I love texture and this is a great way to add texture to any card. Then I adhered that to my notecard base. The next layer is made using that die cutting technique. I layered a piece of Whisper White cardstock (a little bigger than an inch) onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz designer series paper (Subtles designer series paper) and die cut with a Stitched Rectangle. I label my dies as #1 being the largest. There's a great variety of sizes in this set of dies. I used #5. I wanted to stamp my sentiment on the white bottom so I made it a little bigger to accommodate my greeting.  The bird (Birds & Branches stamp set) is stamped in Night of Navy and Balmy Blue classic inks. Then I die cut it using the coordinating die (Birds & more dies). The branch is a stand-alone die cut from the same die set. It's cut from Whisper White cardstock and watercolored with an water painter and Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue classic inks. Happy Birthday is from a new set coming out January 5, 2021- Art Gallery. I stamped it in Night of Navy classic ink. Then I adhered my layered stitched rectangle to my Night of Navy layer. I adhered the branch across the rectangle and the bird off the left side near the greeting. You can stamp the inside as desired as well as your envelope. Everyone loves receiving pretty mail.

This birthday notecard is similar to the first one but with one less layer. I used a Stitched Circle (Stitched Shapes dies) instead of the rectangle. The branch is cut from Whisper White with the stand-alone die and watercolored just as I did for the first card. I cut apart the branch and tucked in the smaller pieces where I wanted to fill in. The bird is stamped in Night of Navy and Balmy Blue classic inks and die cut with the coordinating die. For this card, I used Balmy Blue designer series paper (Subtles designer series paper). Adhere your die cut circle and layered piece together. Then adhere the circle to the notecard base with Stampin' dimensionals. Stamp the inside as desired and pretty up your envelope. I adhered my main branch and then the bird. I tucked in pieces around the bird and adhered with glue dots. You can stamp it as I did or use your extra paper to adhere to the flap. I used Whisper White cardstock for all my stamping and die cutting.

This die cut layering technique is a great way to add something different to your cards. I hope you'll give it a try. The designer series paper adds a fun element and you can put your paper to good use.
