Week 3 of 12 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration-Winter Scenes

I'm a little behind in writing week 3 of Christmas inspiration so please forgive me. If you've been stamping with me for a while this won't surprise you- I love creating winter scenes or any scene really. But there's something about a winter scene that just draws me in. I did do a winter scene birthday card blog and I'll link that video on this page too so you can watch how I created a scene. I wanted to share some other cards I created using a layering technique with die cuts and adding a holiday greeting.

I used these products from Stampin' Up!®:
  • Light & Wonder dies
  • Scenic Adventure dies
  • Christmas Greenery dies
  • Autumn Trees dies (deer)
  • Two Tone Cardstock (Willow White, Secret Sea, Cloud Cover, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso)
  • Cherry Cobbler, Cloud Cover classic inks
  • Cherry Cobbler, Secret Sea, Cloud Cover cardstocks
Shop all Stampin' Up!® products in my online store.

I was waiting on my order to come in with my Light & Wonder dies, so I grabbed some of my favorite retired items from my stash. I created winter scenes and used the Perennial Postage dies to make my layers look like postage stamps. The snowmen from Spirited Snowmen are some of my favorites (I know I have a ton of favorites!). I used the trees from Coming Home (retired) to help draw in a scene for my snowman. On the second card I used the houses and trees from Coming Home to create a little neighborhood. I used Stampin' Blends markers to color both card layers.

Ok- on to the cards created with the new Light & Wonder dies! I also paired these with the Scenic Adventure dies. They work so well together.

You're going to see this color combo a ton from me for my winter cards (Cherry Cobbler, Cloud Cover and Secret Sea). It just makes me happy. I love the deep dark blue you get with Secret Sea. For this card, I used the mountains, smaller trees and hilly land dies from Light & Wonder dies. They layer so nicely. I created a little winter wonderland scene. Merry and Bright (Traditional Labels) is stamped in Cherry Cobbler classic ink.
Tip: Add wink of stella to your snowy areas to give it some shine.

This card features a close-up of pine branches with berries. I used the pine bough and berry dies from Christmas Greenery. I have a feeling I'll be using these dies a ton as I love pine boughs and berries.
The greeting is from Traditional Labels stamp set.

This serene scene was created with the Light & Wonder dies. I love all the pieces available. I created a frozen lake and used a blending brush and Cloud Cover classic ink to give it some color. The colors on this card are Cherry Cobbler, Cloud Cover and Old Olive.  Evergreen or pine trees are my favorite to use for winter scenes.

This last card, I made on my Facebook live. I intended to make it a Christmas card, but when I was finished it seemed like a winter birthday card. I used the mountain dies from Scenic Adventure. The trees are from Light & Wonder dies and the deer are from Autumn Trees dies. I love when I can mix and match and use my tools beyond the season they're meant for. This momma deer and her baby are peeking out from behind my evergreen trees. I used Secret Sea, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso two tone cardstock for my die cuts. I love that this paper has a dark side and a light side. It gives me so many more color options. Happy Birthday (Simply Said) is stamped in Smoky Slate classic ink.

Use some left over die cuts to decorate the inside of your card. For the sky, I used a blending brush and Cloud Cover classic ink to brush on some color. I love that it's subtle and doesn't take over my scene.

You can watch the replay of this card on my YouTube Channel.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you've been inspired to create your own winter scene. Here are a few winter scene cards I created with just stamps.

I used Woodland Scenery and Scenic Adventure stamp sets. They work well together.

Happy Creating!
~ Beth
