Tri-fold Christmas card with Textured Notes dies by Stampin' Up!®

 Today, I'm sharing a tri-fold Christmas card made with Textured Notes dies by Stampin' Up!®. I used some of my favorite stamps from my stash- Peaceful Evergreens, Christmas Barn, Classic Cloche and October 2024 paper pumpkin. What stamps do you have in your stash that you can use for a winter scene or Christmas card?

Products used:

• Peaceful Evergreens stamp set
• Christmas Barn stamps and coordinating dies
• Classic Cloche stamp set (greeting)
• October 2024 paper pumpkin (greeting)
• Classic inks: Secret Sea, Cloud Cover, Basic Gray
• Stampin' Blends markers: Secret Sea (light), Cloud Cover, Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, Natural Tones medium light (700) and color lifter
• Textured Notes dies
• Secret Sea and Basic White cardstocks

Instructions:

1. Die cut 3 panels from Secret Sea cardstock with the largest Textured Notes die.
2. Die cut 4 panels from Basic White cardstock with the second largest Textured Notes die.
3. Cut 2 connector pieces 4 1/2" x 2" from Secret Sea cardstock and score at 1".
4. Stamp images on Basic White panels. Adhere stamped layers to Secret Sea die cuts.
5. Adhere a connector cardstock strip to the first panel by putting adhesive on the left side of the score line. Make sure you don't get adhesive too close to the score line. Then add adhesive on the right side of the score and adhere the second panel. 
6. Adhere another connector cardstock strip to the right side of the middle panel. Then adhere the last panel to the connector. *see video on how I lined them up.
7. If you'd like an area to write a message, adhere a piece of 5" x 3 3/4" cardstock or die cut onto the back of the last panel. 

                                                                                                                                                                                

On the first panel, I used two Basic White Textured Notes die cuts. On the bottom layer I stamped trees from Peaceful Evergreens in Cloud Cover classic ink. The trees were stamped in first generation and second generation (stamping off first on scrap and then onto the layer). This gives a wonderful variation in color and adds some depth. 

On second layer, I stamped the horse and sleigh from Christmas Barn in Basic Gray classic ink. Then colored with Stampin' Blends markers. I used Cloud Cover, Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, light Secret Sea, Natural Tones medium light (700) and the color lifter. The color lifter is the alcohol solution without color and helps smooth the edges where I drew in snow and added a little color on the horse. Stamp the greeting in Secret Sea at the bottom.

I did a partial die cut on the layer with the horse and sleigh. *See video or the tab at the top of this page on how to do that technique.

Then adhere the sleigh layer to the layer with the trees. Adhere to the Secret Sea Textured Notes die cut. 

On the second panel, I stamped the trees in Cloud Cover classic ink using the same technique of stamping in first and second generations.  I drew in some snow lines with a light Smoky Slate Stampin' blend marker and used the color lifter to smooth the edges and dilute the color.  The color lifter doesn't actually "lift" the color. It adds more alcohol solution to the area and pushes the color through the paper.  The greeting is stamped in Secret Sea classic ink and is from the October 2024 paper pumpkin.  You could leave some space this area for a handwritten message instead of stamping a greeting. Adhere the Basic White layer to the Secret Sea Textured Notes die cut. 

On the last panel, I stamped the barn from Christmas Barn in Basic Gray classic ink. Then I colored it with Cherry Cobbler and light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends markers. The Smoky Slate lines were smoothed and diluted with the color lifter. 

To stamp the trees behind the barn, I created a mask with the masking pager. The masking paper is sticky on one side. You stamp the image on the paper side and cut with scissors around the edge just inside the stamped line. Then peel off the backing and place over your stamped image on the layer.  Ink up your trees in Cloud Cover classic ink and stamp beside and behind the barn. I used the same technique with first and second generation stamping to make it look like some trees are further away. Peel off the mask carefully. Add in some snow lines and shadows along the bottom of the trees and barn with a light Smoky Slate Stampin' blend marker and use the color lifter to smooth and soften/dilute the lines. 

Adhere the finished panel to a Secret Sea Textured Notes die cut. 

To connect the panels, adhere the cardstock connectors. To see how I did it, watch the video. The finished card folds like a Z fold card. The front panel folds back and the last panel folds in. It fits in a medium envelope. I didn't use any dimensionals as it is thicker with this much cardstock. It may require extra postage if it's too thick. 

I love this Christmas color combo- Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Cloud Cover and Secret Sea. I added in Smoky Slate and Basic Gray as neutrals.
