Layered card with Scenic Adventure and Nested Essential dies by Stampin' Up!®

If you've been crafting with me for a while, you already know this- I love layered scenes. I collect most of the scene stamps and dies that come out and keep them in my stash. For my card I'm sharing today, I've created a layered shaped scene with the Scenic Adventure and Nested Essentials dies by Stampin' Up!.

Supplies used:
  • Nested Essentials dies
  • Scenic Adventure bundle (dies on front, stamps on inside)
  • Weekend Adventures stamp set (greeting)
  • Month by Month "celebrate" stamp (Month by Month Album Retreat kit)
  • Make a Difference "&" stamp (retired)
  • Simply Said stamp set - "happy birthday" on inside of card
  • Two Tone Cardstock: Secret Sea, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Pool Party
  • Cardstocks: Basic White and Secret Sea
  • Neutral Matte Dots
  • Pool Party Stampin' Blends markers (dark to color neutral dots), Old Olive Stampin' Blends markers (to add ground around trees on inside layer)
  • Secret Sea, Mossy Meadow and Old Olive classic ink pads
Instructions:
  1. Die cut the follow two tone cardstocks with the largest elongated hexagon from Nested Essentials dies: dark Secret Sea, light Secret Sea, light Mossy Meadow, light Pool Party, dark Old Olive. (5 hexagons, 1 of each color)
  2. Die cut Basic White cardstock with largest elongated hexagon from Nested Essentials dies.
  3. Die cut light Secret Sea two tone hexagon with the smaller mountain edge die from Scenic Adventure dies. Position the die just to the left of the top point. Use scissors to finish cutting the edge to the side of the hexagon.
  4. Die cut dark Secret Sea two tone hexagon with the larger mountain edge die from Scenic Adventure dies. Position the taller mountain to the right of the top point and just a bit down from the top of the hexagon.
  5. Die cut the light Mossy Meadow two tone hexagon with the line of trees edge die from Scenic Adventure dies. Adjust the height to how far up the mountain you want the trees. I placed the bottom of the die about the middle of the hexagon.
  6. Tear the light Pool Party two tone hexagon. Pulling toward you will reveal the white core of the paper. I tore it a little less than half way from the bottom. Then I tore more until I liked how it looked layered.
  7. Die cut the dark Old Olive two tone hexagon with the grass die from Scenic Adventure dies. I lined the edge of the die up with the bottom corners. Adjust height to your liking.
  8. Cut a Secret Sea cardstock base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4"
  9. Cut a Basic White cardstock layer for the inside of the card 5" x 3 3/4"
  10. Adhere the dark Secret Sea mountain layer to the light Secret Sea mountain layer. Make sure to line up the sides and bottom.
  11. Adhere the mountains to the Basic White hexagon. Make sure to line up the sides and bottom.
  12. Adhere the light Mossy Meadow trees onto the layer. Make sure to line up the sides and bottom.
  13. Adhere the light Pool Party stream onto the layer. Make sure to line up the sides and bottom.
  14. Adhere the dark Old Olive grass piece onto the layer. Make sure to line up the sides and bottom. You want to keep all your layers lined up with the Basic White hexagon.
  15. Use a stamp positioner to stamp your greeting onto your layered scene. I stamped "enjoy" from Weekend Adventures, "&" from Make a Difference (retired) and "celebrate" from Month by Month Album Retreat kit in Secret Sea Classic ink.
  16. Adhere scene layer to card base.
  17. Color some neutral matte dots with a dark Pool Party blend and place on your card front. I like to use the Take-your-pick tool to apply embellishments.
  18. Stamp a tall tree in Mossy Meadow Classic ink and a smaller tree in Old Olive Classic ink on the inside layer of the card. Then stamp "happy birthday" from Simply Said in Secret Sea Classic ink. *I used a dark Old Olive Stampin' Blend marker to add a little ground just under my trees.
  19. Adhere inside layer to inside of card.

I'm loving this outdoorsy color combo: Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Pool Party and Secret Sea. Secret Sea is becoming one of my favorite colors.  Here's a close-up of the layered scene.

Here's another card I made using the same method for my layered scene. I used a "thanks" die cut I had from a paper pumpkin die set (April-June 2024). I die cut the thanks from Basic White cardstock. I adhered two die cut words together to give it strength and dimension. Then I colored it with Pool Party Stampin' Blends markers to create a gradient look. I colored the bottom with dark Pool Party and then used the light Pool Party over top and a little further up the letters. Then I used the color lifter to smooth my edges.

I really enjoyed creating this card. This would be great for all nature lovers, guys, kids and works for many occasions. Have fun creating and testing out different color combos with this layout.

Layered card with Charming Day bundle by Stampin' Up!®

Cards with layers and texture really draw me in. For my cards I'm sharing today, I used the new Charming Day bundle from Stampin' Up!®. I love the floral image. It is an outline stamp. You can color it with markers (Stampin' Write or blends), watercolor pencils, or add color with brushes/sponges and classic ink pads.

Supplies for Card 1:
Cut all your cardstock pieces. Stamp and color the floral images and then die cut. Use the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder on the Secret Sea two tone cardstock. To create the rough, rustic texture, use a sanding block or nail file and go over the raised parts of the embossed layer. Two tone cardstock is printed so the core is still white. Sanding allows the white core to show. Isn't that cool?!  Adhere your textured layer to the card base. Make sure you use a strong adhesive when adhering textured/embossed pieces. I used multipurpose liquid glue. Stamp your greeting in Early Espresso classic ink and adhere to the embossed layer. My floral images are popped up with dimensionals. Stamp or embellish your inside layer and adhere.

Supplies for Card 2:

Cut all your cardstock pieces. Stamp and color the floral images and then die cut. Use the Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder on the Secret Sea two tone cardstock. To create the rough, rustic texture, use a sanding block or nail file and go over the raised parts of the embossed layer. Adhere your textured layer to the card base. Make sure you use a strong adhesive when adhering textured/embossed pieces. I used multipurpose liquid glue. Stamp your greeting in Secret Sea classic ink onto the circle die cut. My floral images are adhered to the circle. Then I popped up the whole layer with dimensionals. Stamp or embellish your inside layer and adhere.

Sanding technique with two tone cardstock:
  • Use any embossing folder you have on hand
  • Pick out desired color of two tone cardstock
  • Put the two tone cardstock in the embossing folder and run it through your cut & emboss machine
  • Use a fine or medium sanding block or nail file over the raised areas
This is such a fun technique. I love the rustic look.
Here's an up close look at the texture of the Forever Plaid 3D embossed layer.  Check out the up close look at the Mini Corrugated 3D embossed layer. Each embossed layer has a different feel. You can pair this with most occasions and images. The sanded Mini Corrugated layer reminds me of an old washboard. I think it gives this card a vintage feel. It would also pair well with mountains, outdoorsy themes or many masculine themed images.

Coloring technique:
  • For the flowers and leaves, I used a stippling technique- coloring with dots.
  • Stampin' Blends Markers by Stampin' Up!® are an alcohol marker. When you layer the dots they blend together as you layer them.
  • I used Cloud Cover and light Secret Sea on the blue flowers.
  • I used Timid Tiger and dark Cajun Craze on the orange flowers
  • For the leaves, I used Pretty Peacock and Mossy Meadow.
I love the texture you get from this technique. To see how I did the coloring, watch the video. You can jump ahead to just the coloring with the chapters in the description on YouTube.

Here's some up close pics of the coloring:

Clean & Simple card with Perfectly Pears by Stampin' Up!®

I'm really drawn in by pears. Not really sure why, but I love images. Stampin' Up!'s Painterly Pears Suite collection is gorgeous. I just had to add the Perfectly Pears bundle to my collection.

The yellows and greens remind you of a warm summer day. The Painterly Pears designer series paper just makes me smile.

Today, I'm sharing a clean and simple card made with the Perfectly Pears bundle. I love that the stamp has an outline stamp as well as a solid filler stamp. You can use them separately or together.

Measurements:
  • card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" (Basic White)
  • cardstock layer 5 1/4" x 4" (Basic White)

Instructions:
  1. Cut card base and cardstock layer.
  2. Score cardstock layer at 1/4" on each side. (I used the Simply Scored Scoring tool. You can do this on the Stampin' Up! trimmer as well.)
  3. Ink up the pear and leaves outline stamp with Gray Granite Classic ink and stamp.
  4. Ink up the pear filler stamp in Crushed Curry and stamp.
  5. Ink up the leaves/stem filler stamp in Old Olive and stamp.
  6. Use watercolor pencils to add Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso to your stamped images. *see video
  7. Use Coastal Cabana watercolor pencils to color around the pear.
  8. Stamp greeting in Secret Sea classic ink.
  9. Adhere layer to card base.
  10. Stamp inside if desired.
I just love how this card turned out. I love the texture of the watercolor pencil. If you want a smoother look, you can use a slightly damp paint brush or a blender pen to smooth the pencil lines.

Check out the scored lines. This adds texture and steps up the look of your finished card. I tried not color over my score line. Don't fret if you do though. It just adds to the texture.

I created another card with the smaller pear image. It has a solid filler stamp for the pears but not the stem and leaves. I used watercolor pencils to fill it in.

Check out my video on YouTube:

I hope you enjoyed this clean and simple card. Leave me a comment if you love pears and this set is on your list.
